Rutland Water, Lakenheath

Friday we went back to Rutland to look at another Osprey nest on the site. This one is closer than the other, and it is not sure yet if they will lay eggs since they are a bit late starting. But they were nest building and mating, so we will see. One of them did a few fly overs, so we got some very close and nice pictures. Also a very big fish was brought in, on a not too far distance. So we had a good time there. Only minus was the very strong wind.

Yesterday it was Lakenheath, to see how that place was...That was a disappointment! What happend to everything we read about it? Apart from Hobbies, it was only some distant Marsh Harriers and a distant Kestrel. Bitterns was booming many places, and i guess if you are willing to sit somewhere to wait all day, you might be lucky to see one.

It was on our list of places to see, but we are not going back there.
